Our Story

Serving you, your family, and your friends the best quality “bang for your buck” since 2007.

Ginger Boardman chatting with a customer.

When Ginger Boardman purchased the historical Wilson’s Restaurant in 2006 she brought back the original name, Creek House Diner, and set out to revive it as a daily destination for the community.

The original Locust Creek House Complex tavern dated back to 1837 with years of rich local history to its name. To say the Boardmans have worked hard to keep the Creek House Diner open for their community since reopening in 2007 would be a significant understatement.

After extensive renovations, the new Creek House Diner opened its doors on February 14, 2007. That Valentine’s Day turned out to be, perhaps, the most challenging day to have a grand opening. The blizzard of ’07, as it was named, dropped over two feet of snow in a 24-hour period. However, much to the Boardmans’ surprise, more than 90 local patrons ventured out to see the newly renovated staple outside of Bethel.

Only years later, they faced another natural disaster with tropical storm Irene on Sunday, August 28, 2011. Flooding destroyed roads, houses, businesses, farms, and the environment was severely impacted by this tragic and massive flood in Vermont. Creek House Diner survived with minor flood damage but soon became settled on a dead end and difficult to reach.

In 2018, the Diner was devastated by a fire. Thanks to the many volunteer firefighters, the structure was sustained but the entire interior was destroyed. After many months of reconstruction, once again, the business resumed at an accelerated pace to meet the needs and wants of the community. Many local patrons and visitors alike came back with enthusiasm and committed support. The year 2019 became the best year in Ginger Boardman’s history of owning Creek House Diner. That is, until the pandemic of 2020 forced closure once again...

It is with anxious optimism that the Boardmans have reopened this summer (2021). Each disaster has brought its own challenges and opportunities for growth. Much has been learned, experienced, and loved as the Creek House Diner family continues to strive to serve its customers freshly prepared and locally sourced food in the friendly manner that they’ve come to enjoy.

“The community has been there for us, through thick and thin. And we look forward to doing the same for them, once again. We hope you’ll join us at the Creek House Diner!”

Thank you,

Ginger and Tyler Boardman
